James Baldwin 

In the Spring of 2014, I had the opportunity to take a course at California State University East Bay studying the work of James Baldwin under Dr. Nicholas Baham. 

A final project for the course was to create a photography project that captured some aspect of Baldwin and/or his work.  I feel the photographs (Google Images) of Baldwin below capture aspects of his personality and voice that are present throughout his work. 

I chose to recreate some of my favorite photographs of Baldwin with the help of two amazing authors, Cameron Awkward-Rich and Danez Smith. Click left or right on any image of Baldwin to view the inspired portrait.
